The Boss Enrolled

by Summer Town

Synopsis “Let’s show them who they’ve been looking down on as just a high school graduate all this time.” At twenty-seven, the perfect age to enter college, Yoon-ah is determined to earn her diploma and prove she’s not someone to be belittled. “A country bumpkin, just a high school grad.” That’s what she heard endlessly throughout her married life. For nearly six years, she endured her husband’s affairs and her in-laws’ contempt. But after carefully gathering evidence of his infidelity, she finalized the divorce and began a new chapter of her own life. With excitement in her heart, she stepped into her first day of classes—only to find out that her assigned mentor was an unexpected face. “Number 36. That’s you, right?” “…Yeong-won?” It was Yeong-won, the part-timer who had worked at the café she opened with her alimony settlement. What were the odds of such a coincidence? Reserved and reluctant to share anything about himself, Yeong-won was always difficult to approach. “Why didn’t you say anything?” “…Pardon?” “That you applied to Yonhee University, Business Administration.” “Ah… Was… Was that something I should’ve told you…?” But day by day, the way Yeong-won looked at Yoon-ah began to change. Looking back, he had always been there by her side. Just as she was starting to notice the shift, Yeong-won suddenly asked her a question. “Boss. Are you close with Deputy Manager Park Chang-min?” “…” “Do you enjoy being around him?” There was something strangely loaded in his question, and Yoon-ah found herself at a loss for words. A sudden, awkward silence fell between them.
