Taboo Online

by MysteriousCat

In a world where superheroes battle villains and the powerless can only watch, Luke has never had anyone come to his rescue. Homeless, penniless, and abandoned by everyone who should have protected him, he is given a second chance when Lauren, a beautiful café owner twice his age, invites him into her home. Lauren only intends to help a good young man in need. Luke only wants to repay the first person who has ever truly cared about him. But loneliness, attraction, and close proximity soon begin blurring the boundaries between them. When Lauren impulsively buys a partner system for the immersive fantasy game Powerforge Online, the two enter a world where ordinary people can wield magic, become powerful heroes, and pursue desires they would never admit in reality. It is supposed to be only a game. Neither of them realizes that what happens online may soon transform their bodies, their relationship, and the battle between heroes and villains in the real world.
