Who Did You Like at Seventeen?

by Ying Shiliu

This novel is the original work for the drama '199 Love' (also known as 'Want to Love Forever'), starring Yang Zi and Fan Chengcheng. It tells a poignant story of first love and enduring connections. In the bloom of youth, a love blossoms, much like a flower revealing its most vibrant beauty. At seventeen, feelings and emotions are often hidden deep within, too shy to be expressed. This is a love that feels like a silent pause amidst the hurried pace of life, suddenly entering one's world and leaving an indelible mark. Many years later, fate brings them together once more. Huang Yingzi confronts Jiang Yi with a lingering question: 'Why didn't you tell me when you went abroad?' But Jiang Yi, too, carries a question, one that has haunted him for years, a question he longs to ask: 'Huang Yingzi, who did you truly like when you were seventeen?' This story explores the tender complexities of youthful affection, unspoken desires, and the enduring power of a love that began in adolescence, resurfacing years later to seek answers and perhaps a second chance.
