What I Wanted Was Just The Alimony

by The4Devas 디버스 대도서관

‘I’ll grab a lot of alimony, change my identity, and live a carefree life!’ I’d transmigrated into Lucienne, the villainous grand duchess of a reverse harem novel. A typical cliché character who obsessively clung to her indifferent husband, Grand duke Phaelo Ronather, and doomed to meet a classic villainess fate: execution after countless misdeeds. And the grand duke? Following the natural progression of the original novel, her husband was destined to become the female lead’s man. But I’d no intention of meekly handing over my husband. Not because of love—oh no. Because according to the empire’s laws, being divorced meant I’d receive 10% of my spouse’s fortune in alimony, no strings attached. So, I made a resolution: lean into my villainess reputation and stir up some scandals to pressure Phaelo into filing for a divorce as soon as possible. “I’ll grab a lot of alimony, change my identity, and live a carefree life!” Resolute, I began my spree of ‘evil’. But— ―Was the villainess’ quest for justice a performance or her true intention? ―The dazzling heroics of Grand duchess Ronather! ―The people from neighbouring regions lament: ‘Why isn’t our land under the Grand duchess’s benevolent rule?’ No matter what I did, the results kept veering off script. “I owe you an apology. I’ve had some misunderstandings about you, my lady.” Even worse, her stoic husband’s gaze began to soften, his crimson eyes practically sparkling when they landed on her. ‘Damn it, this isn’t working. Let’s switch tactics. He’ll divorce me if he thinks I’m unfaithful!’ Determined, I staged a scandalous scene, surrounding myself with handsome men, feigning drunken debauchery, and throwing an extravagant party. Finally, Phaelo’s gaze darkened, his eyes glinting with barely restrained madness. ‘This is it! He’s finally going to divorce me!’ I was overwhelmed with anticipation, ready to reap the rewards of my struggles at last… “I’ll try harder every day, so you won’t even have time to look at anyone else.” No, no, no, that wasn’t what I wanted! What you were supposed to say was, “My lady, let’s divorce!”
