My Lord Count, I’ll Escape First

by jenny

Alice barely scraped by, making a living as a detective. One day, the ship she happened to board was wrecked in a jungle! And to make matters worse—Count Parhan, the famous “Sword of the Empire,” was on board too. Along with his fiancée? “…This is burdensome. Let’s stay away from nobles for now.” But then why does this Theodore Parhan keep following her around? Like a giant dog begging for attention… Are you seriously enjoying watching me struggle to survive? Please just leave me alone! I’m escaping this jungle first! But… Theodore Parhan was a man who knew very well how to play the pitiful big-dog act. “Are we really going separately? Even if I do everything you say, won’t you still go with me?” “….” …In the end, she gives up on escaping “first”! One day, Theodore Parhan suddenly presses his lips against hers. “Don’t think about anything else, Alice. Just think about me.” The shamelessly demanding count, one day… “A broken engagement? Why… why did you suddenly break it off?” “When you find something you truly want, things change.” Why is her heart beating so wildly? “I like you, Alice. Probably far more than you think.” She was just doing everything she could to survive in the jungle—so how did things end up like this? And how did “I like you, Alice” turn into “I’m obsessed with you, Alice”…? “Sometimes I wonder what my life would have been like if I hadn’t met you. It would’ve been unbearably dull.” This is too much… it’s crossing the line! Count, is this really pure affection? Or is there some kind of plan behind it? This tightening noose, these reaching hands… This isn’t something dangerous… right, Your Excellency?
