The Empress is the Strongest in the World, Got a Problem with That?

by Shamua

“Duke Ceres, marry me.” One day, I saw my future. If I marry the tyrant as things stand, I’ll end up dead! To change my fate, I proposed to his biggest rival, the Duke of Ceres. And just like that, our married life began. “Your eyes are beautiful.” “…Don’t tease me.” “I’m not teasing.” Even though it was just a marriage of convenience, it was actually quite pleasant. Until… “You don’t want a peaceful divorce? Would you rather attend your husband’s funeral instead?” I couldn’t withstand the tyrant’s threats anymore, so I filed for divorce and ran. Five years had passed when a rebellion broke out. The tyrant was overthrown, and a new emperor took the throne. But then… “Edward… that was you?” The new emperor was none other than my ex-husband, the Duke of Ceres. Not that it had anything to do with me. Because he was my ex-husband! Or so I thought… “Those papers? I tore them up.” Turns out, we were never divorced in the first place. I had no choice but to play the role of empress for a year before I could legally file for divorce. Luckily, the job really suited me. And a year later, I was back with fresh divorce papers. “Please sign them properly this time.” “…Must you be so cruel?” Wait, what? Why am I the bad guy?!
